Leadership Day in East Africa
AWAN leaders (African Women in Agribusiness Network) from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda met in Nairobi, Kenya, on November 11th to reach their full potential. The training was to encourage and empower the leaders of the regional mentorship programmes to take the AWAN mentorship programmes to the next level. The group went through self-awareness, leadership for development and mindfulness to be more effective as leaders and role-models for AWAN and in their individual companies.
For women entrepreneurs and women in agribusiness balancing private and professional life can be a challenge. This was addressed in the training by self-assessment, self-rating and to have an appreciation of the strengths and weaknesses in your own leadership. Many members of the group are also mentors and facilitators in the AWAN mentorship programme (that has just launched its second round in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania and for the first time in Rwanda) where the leadership skills will be used and shared.
The training was carried out by AWAN-EA in cooperation with Chamber Trade Sweden and with leadership skills, experience and expertise given by Christina Stenberg.
