New collaboration in West Balkan

Chamber Trade Sweden visited the leading Women Business Member Organisation in Bosnia Herzegovina, ONE and the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia Herzegovina in Sarajevo to identify possible partners for capacity building and linking Swedish and West Balkan business networks closer to each other. We also met with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and the corresponding Women Business Association in Serbia and with the Swedish embassies in the two countries.

We see big potential in bringing the Chamber Academy programme to the West Balkans focusing on Women economic empowerment, capacity building for sustainable industrial development and linking companies in the region with those in Sweden and in countries where CTS is active. Connecting international business networks for capacity building and competence sharing is key to competitiveness and growth.

Chamber Trade Sweden is an active partner of the IWEC network, International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge. IWEC identifies and celebrates successful international business women throughout the world to promote women in business and help them grow. Chamber Trade Sweden not only promote Swedish women entrepreneurs but we have also identified strong and successful business women that are members of our partners in developing countries. Through the CTS network, CTS has encouraged Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and Serbia to nominate business women to join the IWEC network. On our visit we met with the 2014 and the 2015 Serbian IWEC Awardees. CTS role is to help these entrepreneurs to find partners in new market to grow their companies.

We continue the process of identifying partners for the CTS programmes and hope to be able to involve business networks in the West Balkans in our activities 2016-2018.
