Progress for Women’s Economic Empowerment

Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) is one of CTS key goals that we are pursuing together with all our partners. Next year our WEE network will gather in Jakarta, Indonesia hosted by APINDO (Indonesias Employers and Business Association) to share results, discuss and share best practices for advocacy and improving business services and networks for member companies and the business community. We also look forward to learning from the Indonesian movement to promote SME’s and promoting the textile and fashion industry.

CTS is also engaging in promoting WEE with partners in Sweden. Sida held a successful Development Talk on Nov 20 on Women and Trade in Africa – How to ensure Inclusive Development. The seminar addressed women as key economic agents and had the key following key speakers address the audience – Arancha Gonzalez, head of ITC, Paul Brenton, World Bank and Dorothy Tuma, Chair of East African Women in Business Platform and Charlotte Petri-Gornitzka. The talks were moderated by CTS CEO Charlotte Kalin. Learn more about the developement talks here
